John Denver is a popular artist and musician who has touched a lot of people by his lyrics. Most of his songs were inspired by Colorado. Born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. in Roswell New Mexico, he was in affection with Colorado and then relocated to Aspen. Denver's songs that he sang about his new state brought many people to Colorado. G. Brown of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame says that John Denver is unlike any other performer who has the recognizable image of Colorado. Denver was the very first Hall of Fame inductee in 2011. He has become the personification of the state to everyone around the world. If you travel with me, you are likely to meet people from the other end of the world. Like, for instance, people from New Zealand. And when you say that you are Colorado-based, Colorado the response is "Oh John Denver!" Brown clarified. Take Me Home Country Roads was one of Denver's top 10 singles after he performed with small folk music bands. The song was written and performed by Bill Danoff. Danoff composed the track with Johnny Cash in mind but after Denver heard an early version it was clear that the song could be an instant hit. Following the performance on stage in Washington D.C. to a large audience, Denver released the song a couple of days afterward.
